Bushwick Inlet Park, located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn on the East River shore, won a national award by the American Institute of Architects.
Sponzilli’s part in this ambitious waterfront project was to design and install a unique green roof assembly for the elevated park. This included bringing in soils, geotextiles, and washed bluegrass sod. A fully integrated irrigation system was installed.
At the street level, the landscape project included installing specimen trees, an assortment of perennials, cobblestone pavers, soils and an irrigation system.
Bushwick Inlet Park includes a multipurpose field for soccer, football, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, and ultimate frisbee, a green building with a green roof, a viewing platform, playground and public access to the waterfront.
