Hudson Yards
Landscape Installation | New York, NY
Landscape Architects: Nelson Bryd Woltz
Architects: Kohn Pederson Fox Associates
Hudson Yards is one of the largest and most expensive real estate projects in U.S history as well as the largest development in New York City since the Rockefeller Center. Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, in collaboration with Heatherwick Studio, have been the lead designers of the public square and gardens. Sponzilli Landscape Group has played a large role in the installation of the park and gardens. The overall project architect is Kohn Pederson Fox Associates.
With 14 acres of public space filled with beautiful gardens, man-made architecture aligns beautifully with nature. Inside the plaza are 225 trees, 32,000 flowers of numerous varieties, and 50,000 bulbs to create lush gardens you won’t find anywhere else in New York.
The 14 acres of open public space and gardens are placed within 20 million square feet of commercial and residential space, over 100 shops, a collection of restaurants, about 4,000 residences, and much more. While the first phase of the project included retail, condos, residences, and shops have begun to open, the full-scale project isn’t set to be realized until 2025. Sponzilli has played a huge part in the creation of this project that will give the people of New York an area to work, live, and play.
