Project Description:
Phase I – We transformed a bare bones back yard with a small patio. We designed and built a new outdoor living space which included a 14’ X 16’ fiberglass pergola, a built-in fireplace, and a custom-built outdoor kitchen complete with a grill, refrigerator, and storage.
The patio included a modified border using Techo Antika and a seat wall for overflow seating. The treads are Techo Aged Caps.
Dramatic outdoor lighting was included during this first phase of the project in late 2015. View images and details of the Phase I backyard transformation.
Phase II – We then expanded upon that initial design to include a new 16’ X 32’ vinyl liner swimming pool with an auto cover, patio, privacy plantings, and shed/changing room combination.
The new pool patio included large format pavers with natural grass joints. We also installed a cedar border for a new playset and triple ground playground-safe mulch.
Extensive regrading was needed to direct the flow of water to the side and rear of the property. The landscaping project maximized the homeowner’s lot coverage, so a seepage tank was required by the town to control ground water runoff on their property.
This property also has a high-water table and clay soil, so a sump pump and piping were installed under the deep end of the pool to remove ground water from damaging the pool liner. A boulder wall was installed to assist with creating a level surface off the deep end of the pool and to assist with the directional flow of groundwater.
