Hardscape Foreman
Position Overview
The hardscape installation foreman is experienced in hardscape and landscape construction and installation methods while working with minimal supervision. This position both directs and coaches the activities of a small team in the construction of paver patios, retaining walls, kitchens and outdoor living spaces.
Essential Responsibilities
- Install paver or natural stone patios & segmental block retaining walls
- Read and interpret landscape/hardscape design and construction plans
- Proficiently operates, a variety of mechanical equipment including :
- skid steers, mini excavators, plate compactors, stone grinders, drills, gas and electric chop saws, demolition hammers, and jack hammers
- Complete and turn in accurate paperwork including timesheets, daily job report, and material tickets
- Plan and organizes the job, ensuring that sufficient resources have been ordered via operations manager and requested materials are available, with a keen eye on minimizing downtime
- Manage a team of two or more employees, including handling personnel issues on site and training employees on policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment
- Briefs Senior Staff and make recommendations on job status, personnel issues, or client concerns
- Maintains assigned equipment and notifies operations manager of needed repairs
Qualifications
- The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard construction practices and basic understanding of drainage, sleeves, footings, concrete forms, plumbing and electrical
- 2-5 years of hardscape installation experience preferred
- Strong mathematical skills, job planning skills and mechanical aptitude are a must
- Able to lead, manage and communicate with coworkers and occasionally clients
- Read & execute blueprints, plans construction drawings
- Paver, step, and wall installation
- Retaining wall, walkway, patio, fire pit and outdoor kitchen installation
- Operate/use all landscape tools & equipment effectively
- Operate skid-steer & mini-excavators effectively
- Ability to lift/move up to 80 pounds
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and own transportation
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Masonry / CMU & veneer work is a plus
