We are proud to announce that Sponzilli Landscape Group is the winner of the 2022 NJLCA Landscape Achievement Award for their Outdoor Kitchen and Entertainment Dreamscape—Florham Park, NJ.
The NJLCA entry award category was “Installation with Pool: $250,000 to $500,000.

This residential landscape design project took a basic backyard and transformed it into an exciting outdoor living space for the entire family.
Sponzilli Landscape Group completed the backyard transformation in two phases.
Phase I started in October 2015. The outdoor living space design included:
- A 14”x16” fiberglass pergola
- A built-in fireplace
- A custom outdoor kitchen
- Outdoor lighting
- Seating wall
Phase I also included an upgrade to the existing patio that included a new border of Techo Antika pavers.
Sponzilli started Phase II in July 2021 and completed it in March 2022. This phase included the dramatic additions of:
- A 16’ x 32’ vinyl liner swimming pool with an automatic cover
- A pool patio
- Privacy plantings
- A shed/changing room
- Regraded areas to direct water flow
- A cedar border for new children’s playset
- Playground safe mulch
Outstanding landscape design was evident throughout the project. Complete attention was paid to details, both large and small.
Pavers included grass joints to bring attractive natural greenery into the new pool patio area.
The project also involved the installation of a seepage tank, required by the town, to control groundwater runoff from the backyard. A sump pump and piping were installed to protect the pool liner from possible water damage.
Finally, an attractive boulder wall at the deep end of the pool helps direct groundwater flow.
The NJLCA (New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association) consists of green industry professionals dedicated to the landscape and green industry. The association works to advance the integrity, expertise, and growth of the green industry through training, education, and legislative advocacy.
NJLCA members include landscape architects and contractors, nurseries, and related businesses; it is a resource for both landscape contractors and consumers alike. The NJLCA offers trade shows, educational seminars, and networking opportunities as part of its outreach program.
